Health first
Decay, gum inflammation, bite concerns and existing restorations are assessed before cosmetic work is planned.

01 When to arrange a visit
These signs can have more than one cause. A clinical examination is needed to identify relevant findings and discuss possible diagnoses.
02 Dr. Varnica’s approach
Your exact plan depends on clinical findings. These are the principles that guide the journey.
Decay, gum inflammation, bite concerns and existing restorations are assessed before cosmetic work is planned.
Photographs or a description of the concern can help clarify the type and extent of change being considered.
Whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns or alignment address different concerns and have different limitations and maintenance needs.
Where clinically suitable, options that preserve more natural tooth structure can be considered.
03 Common questions
Cavities, sensitivity, gum health, existing restorations and the cause of discolouration should be assessed. Whitening can cause temporary sensitivity or gum irritation and does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings.
Veneers can require removal of some enamel. The amount varies, which is why bonding, whitening or alignment may sometimes be a more conservative choice.
Longevity varies with the treatment, bite, habits and maintenance. Expected service and aftercare should be discussed for the option being considered.
For some changes, photographs, mock-ups or staged planning may help discuss expectations before irreversible treatment.
